2020 Back to the Ballpark Guidelines 

As adapted for Chariho Girls Softball League 2021 Spring

  1. Head coaches must obtain a signed COVID19 waiver form from each coach and player at the first practice.  http://bit.ly/cgsl_covid_waiver 

  2. Coaches must ensure that all players, spectators, and coaches are screened for symptoms related to COVID-19 prior to the beginning of each practice and game. http://bit.ly/CGSL_screening  Any person exhibiting signs of illness and any person who has been exposed to a person with COVID-19 must be excluded from the activity in accordance with CDC and RIDOH guidelines at https://health.ri.gov/diseases/ncov2019/ 

  3. It is the Policy of Chariho Girls Softball league that any athlete or volunteer must refrain from all Chariho Girls Softball league activities while she/he or any member of her household are waiting for results from a COVID-19 test. A positive test result requires the family to follow all Department of Health and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. The athlete may only return to Chariho Girls Softball league activities once negative results are received or cleared by a medical physician. Only exemption is for asymptomatic persons who have taken a COVID test for work or other travel requirements.

  4. Head coaches must ensure that all coaches, players, and spectators arrive with a cloth face covering. Everyone must wear a face covering in accordance with RIDOH regulations. While engaged in active play of sports or strenuous activities, a face covering is not required. The coach must ensure that when not on the playing field, players and coaches are wearing a face covering whenever they cannot maintain a social distance of six feet. Players are to remain six feet apart when in the dugout, or at their assigned area, unless they are wearing masks. 

  5. Players and coaches must use hand sanitizer before, during, and after practice and games.

  6. Players need to bring their own drinks. 

  7. Each player may need to have their own equipment: helmets, bats, gloves, catches gear, etc. We will advise of guidelines by USA Softball of Rhode Island before the start of the season.

  8. Number of spectators may be limited due to Covid-19 regulations.. Chariho Girls Softball will follow guidelines outlined by USA Softball of Rhode Island. 

  9. When arriving at the field, parents can either drop players off and stay in their vehicles in the parking lot, or park, then proceed to the designated area for spectators keeping a six feet distance from one another. Spectators/Parents area will be outside of the field fence. 

  10. Parents are responsible for cloth face masks for their children, and themselves. Face coverings will not be provided by the League. 

  11. Games/practices may be canceled due to weather or other events outside of CGSL’s control (ie. State or Town restrictions due to COVID-19 status or Triple E.). Canceled events may not be rescheduled. 

  12.  Chariho Girls Softball League will operate in accordance with RIDOH, CDC, USA Softball RI, Chariho School District, and the Town of Charlestown recommendations. 

  13. Failure to follow the safety requirements as outlined by the League may result in the removal of a coach, player, or spectator and/or cessation of the clinic as deemed appropriate by a Chariho Girls Softball League Executive Board Member.

The Chariho Girls Softball League Executive Board reserves the right to amend these requirements as necessary.
