What's the time commitment?

Each scrimmage consists of instruction and practice before playing another CGSL team

These are fast pitch divisions with the goal of developing players' skills and understanding of the game

Here is a list of things our players will need to have:
Fielder's Mask
Here is an example of a fielders Mask - Amazon- Fielders Mask You can purchase fielder's masks at all sporting goods stores (Dick's, Olympia, Elmwood Sports Center, ect.) as well as online. We do have some masks for players who can not buy their own. They will be given to you to borrow for the year and returned. Please let your coach know if you need a mask to borrow for the year.
Softball Glove
Each player is required to have their own glove. They do not need to be expensive or extravagant, but they should be light enough for the player to move easily to catch the ball and flexible enough to close.
Sizing- 6U (instructional) - suggested size of 10-11 inches
8U - suggested glove size of 10-11 inches
10U - suggested glove size 10.5-12 inches
12U/14U - suggested glove size 11-13 inches
Softball Pants
Each player will need gray pants. These pants are often called softball or baseball pants and are 3/4 length. Example-www.amazon.com- softball pants You can purchase softball pants at all sporting goods stores (Dick's, Olympia, Elmwood Sports Center, ect.) as well as online. We will also have pants available for purchase in our concession stand.
Batting Helmet with facemask
Each player will need to have a batting helmet that has a facemask. In years past we did have helmets for the players to share but due to Covid-19 we are asking that all players have their own helmet. Example-Amazon- softball helmet You can purchase helmets at all sporting goods stores (Dick's, Olympia, Elmwood Sports Center, ect.) as well as online. We do have some helmets for players who can not buy their own. They will be given to you to borrow for the year and returned. Please let your coach know if you need a helmet to borrow for the year.
Cleats
It is best for all players to have cleats. They can truly be any style cleats, just no metal cleats. Many players wear low soccer style cleats and some prefer hightop. You can purchase cleats at all sporting goods stores (Dick's, Olympia, Elmwood Sports Center, ect.) as well as online. Many resale stores and marketplaces have gently used cleats and you can often find cleats from friends as children grow out of them so quickly. We do have a few pairs of donated cleats available to anyone who needs them.
Bats
Additionally some players do like to have their own bat. The league does have bats for everyone to use and they will be wiped down between use. Many players also do like to have a sports bag or backpack to put all of their items in. Again the bat and the bag are not necessary to play. Just some players like to have them.
Balls (Just an FYI)
Instructional (6U) and 8U use a 11 inch safety ball such as a Diamond Flexiball or Easton Incrediball.
10U uses a 11 inch regular softball.
12U uses a 12 inch regular softball.
